The village Roztoky
The village Roztoky is situated on the North-East in Slovakia, and on the West of Svidnik city, about 17 km. It has some individuality, which hasn’t any other village in Slovakia. There is one observatory, which is surrounded by amazing nature. This village stretches to the northern part of the Slovak Republic, near the Polish border. There are some neighboring villages: on the East- Kechkovtse, on the South- Nyznij Miroshov, and on the West- Vyshny Miroshov. The north part of the village is taken by Polish border. The first written remembrance about Roztoky was in the 1435. This village survived from the Second World War, during which Russian armies often attacked Roztoky. The history of Roztoky is very diverse, describing the violent times and its end. There are some notes in the archives of Roztoky, where is written about the first launch electricity transmission line, radio, or telephone lines, and improvement of buildings which is continuing at now times. The inhabitants of the village are Slovak, Ukrainian, and Russian nationalities. There live people of Orthodox, Greek-Catholic and Roman-Catholic religion. The village Roztoky hides some exceptional names, like ‘the village with the darkest sky’. Also there is an observatory, which is the second one in the Presov region, situated like on the roof of Europe; and the house of the national housing, as a national monument of culture in Slovakia.
